Margot L. Simmons MEd, RN, CLCEd Lactation Consultant, Infant Group Leader
In college, I was 100% sure I would graduate and work in maternal-child healthcare. But as often happens, youthful certainty can be upended. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania and getting a MEd in early childhood education at Lesley University, I pursued a career in education, marketing and graphic design. Then, after a two-and-a-half-year battle to conceive, I got pregnant and had my first child…five weeks early! Reasonably unflustered (psych…I was a mess), my husband, Jon, and I hired a postpartum doula – and my life was forever changed.
Three kids, a dog, a NYC to Westport move, and 8 years as the owner of The Daily Doula later, I rekindled my youthful professional plan and pursued a bachelor’s of science in nursing from Quinnipiac University. As a nurse, certified lactation counselor, postpartum doula, and gentle sleep coach, I bring my own personal humor, professional experience, and practical tips and tricks to support parents on the crazy, anxiety-ridden ride called parenthood.
When I’m not working at the hospital or teaching newborn care and infant-feeding basics, you can find me soccer/dance mom-ing, beach-walking with friends, playing tennis or finding the next great restaurant in CT. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this warm family-based practice – because parenting is hard, and we could all use a little less judgement and a lot more connection
